Venice with the X100

A short break with Mrs Jones, our first away since the birth of our son in 2009.  I made a conscious decision to only take the X100 with me - it was the first real opportunity to use the camera in anger.  Normally I would have had a compact (E-P1 or LX3) as well as the Canon 40D and a couple of lenses.

Very occasionally I missed a variable focal length, but never so much that I regretted taking just the one camera - in fact I was glad I was not worrying about my gear - this was after all out first grown up trip for more than three years, so photography was not high on my priority list.

Philip Jackson @ Chichester Cathedral

Philip Jackson is a British Sculptor now based in Sussex.   He is known in the UK for a number of public works, most recently a memorial to Bomber Command.

He recently displayed a number of his pieces at Chichester Cathedral.

For me, this is the sort of thing that the X100 is perfect for.

More info on the Sculptor can be found HERE

All of these were shot at f/2.0 or f/2.8:

Beach Buggin' 2012 Southsea

The Annual Beach Buggin' party on Southsea Common.

Primarily a show for Beach Buggies and VW Campers, it also attracts VWs of various other ilks, as well as Scooters, Choppers and just about anything else on wheels.

As usual, wandered around pining for any numbers of the buses on show before checking out some prices and getting a swift reality check.

Oh well, one day maybe......

All of these are straight OOC, with only very minor cropping in one or two cases.  ND filter was used for most of the day.

f/2.0, 1/550, ISO 200

Little Dynamo

The first post on my new Blog.  I intend to use this blog to document my ongoing experiences with the Fujifilm X100.

I love this camera.   I am not an expert, I do not do technical explanations or examinations.  I love this camera because it screams at me to pick it up and use it, end of.

There will be a lot of entries involving my Son (to be joined in December by a brother) but as this is really the only camera I currently use, save for the occasional use of a Canon 40D, I hope to post a variety of topics and themes.

So here goes..........  a little Sunday afternoon levitation
